Terms of Use

Last updated November 1, 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and Oncemaid. By booking a cleaning, applying to clean, leaving a review or paying through this site, you agree to them. Please read Section 15 carefully: it requires most disputes to go to arbitration rather than to a court, and it limits your ability to bring a class action.

1. What Oncemaid is

Oncemaid introduces people who want their home cleaned to independent cleaners who do that work. We take your details, quote the job, find a cleaner for it and handle the arrangements.

Oncemaid does not itself clean houses. The cleaning is carried out by an independent cleaner, running their own business, who is not our employee. The agreement to clean your home is between you and that cleaner. We are not a party to it.

2. What is included, and what is not

What Oncemaid provides. Quoting, scheduling, introducing a cleaner to you, collecting payment, and being the point of contact when something needs sorting out.

What Oncemaid does not provide:

  • The cleaning itself. An independent cleaner does that.
  • Supervision. We do not stand over the cleaner or direct how they work.
  • Supplies and equipment. Cleaners bring their own.
  • A guarantee of results. We will try hard to put it right, but we do not warrant any particular standard.
  • Insurance for you. Check your own homeowner's or renter's policy.
  • Employment. Cleaners are not our employees and get no benefits from us.
  • Tax, legal or licensing advice, to anyone.

3. The cleaner's status

Cleaners introduced through Oncemaid are independent contractors running their own businesses. Nothing here makes a cleaner our employee, partner or agent. Cleaners decide whether to accept work, and are responsible for their own taxes, licences and insurance. This section states what the parties intend; it does not decide a cleaner's status under any particular law, and we do not advise on that.

4. Who can use Oncemaid

You must be 18 or older and able to enter a contract. You must give accurate information. The home must be within the part of Orange County, California that we cover.

5. Booking, quotes and prices

Most jobs are quoted from the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the kind of clean and how often you want it. A quote is an estimate, not a fixed price. If the home turns out to be substantially different from what was described, we will tell you before the work goes ahead and agree a new price with you. You are never charged more than you agreed without being asked first.

A booking is confirmed when we tell you it is, not when you send a request.

6. Payment, cancellation and refunds

Paying. Where you pay through this site, the payment is processed by Stripe and collected by Oncemaid, which receives it on the cleaner's behalf. Card details never reach us.

Cancelling. Tell us as early as you can. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or nobody can get in when the cleaner arrives, we may charge a fee to cover the cleaner's lost time. We will tell you the amount before charging it.

If the cleaner cancels. We will offer you another cleaner or another time, or refund anything you have paid for that visit.

If something is wrong. Tell us within 48 hours of the clean. We will arrange for it to be put right, usually by sending someone back. Where that is not practical we will discuss a partial or full refund. This is our usual practice and not a warranty.

7. Access to your home

You are responsible for giving safe access: a key, a code, or someone to open the door. Tell us about anything that affects safety, such as alarms, dogs, firearms, cameras that record audio, or areas that must not be entered.

Valuables. Put away cash, jewellery and irreplaceable items before a clean. Neither Oncemaid nor the cleaner is responsible for items you leave out.

Keys and codes are held only for as long as you want us to hold them, and are returned or deleted when you ask.

8. Damage

Accidents happen. Tell us within 48 hours, with photographs if you can, and we will work with you and the cleaner to resolve it fairly. Because the cleaner is an independent business, responsibility for damage they cause rests with them. We will help you reach them and will not leave you to it, but we are not their insurer.

9. If you apply to clean

You must be legally entitled to work, give accurate information about your experience, hold any licence your city or state requires, and do the work yourself rather than sending someone else. Applying does not guarantee work. We do not run background checks, and we do not represent to clients that we have.

10. Going around us

If we introduce you to a cleaner, please do not arrange work with that cleaner privately in order to avoid Oncemaid for the next twelve months. It is how we are paid for the introduction.

11. Reviews and anything else you send us

If you send us a review, a photograph or a comment, you keep it, but you give us permission to publish and use it in connection with Oncemaid. Do not send anything that is not yours to send. Our review form asks you to confirm permission, and we only publish what you confirmed.

12. Things you may not do

Do not misuse the site, try to break into it, submit automated junk through the forms, impersonate anyone, harass a cleaner or our staff, or use Oncemaid for anything unlawful.

13. Communications

When you contact us we will reply by the same means or by email or phone. Messages about a booking are part of the service rather than marketing, and you cannot opt out of them while a booking is live.

14. Disclaimers

The site and the introduction service are provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor that any cleaner will meet your expectations.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Oncemaid is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the cleaning the claim relates to. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

You agree to cover our reasonable costs if a claim is brought against us because of something you did, such as breaking these Terms or giving us false information.

16. Disputes and arbitration

Talk to us first. Email info@oncemaid.com and give us 30 days to put it right. Most things end here.

Arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, you and Oncemaid agree that the dispute will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, in Orange County, California. You are giving up the right to a judge or jury.

Exceptions. Either of us may still go to small claims court, and either of us may ask a court to stop misuse of intellectual property.

No class actions. Claims are brought individually. Neither of us may bring a class, collective or representative action.

Opting out. You may opt out of this arbitration section by emailing info@oncemaid.com within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms, saying that you opt out and giving your name and address. Opting out costs you nothing else, and the rest of these Terms still apply.

Governing law. California law governs, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Anything not arbitrated goes to the state or federal courts in Orange County, California.

17. Ending

You can stop using Oncemaid at any time. We can decline or stop providing service, particularly where someone is unsafe, abusive or dishonest. Sections that by their nature should survive, including 14, 15, 16 and 18, survive.

18. General

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands. Not enforcing something once does not waive it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours if the business is sold. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us.

Notices to you go to the email or phone number you gave us. Notices to us go to info@oncemaid.com or the address below. You agree we may deal with you electronically, and that an electronic record is as good as a paper one.

19. Changes

We may change these Terms. The date at the top will change. If a change matters, we will tell you before it takes effect.
